The Liverpool Fringe was the brainchild of Sam Buist, our web wizard Owen McGough and Steff Hudson back in 2016. The vision was to create a not-for-profit event that could one day rival Edinburgh’s and which would be a platform for talent and be accessible to everyone, creatives and audiences alike.

Sam left in 2019, and Mark Kyle Cooper took over as Co-producer with Steff Hudson. At that time, we also welcomed the amazing Dan Scott as the official Fringe Host, comparing our fundraising 24 Hour Playfest and The Fringe Awards.  In 2022, we were pleased to announce the legendary John Gorman as our patron and in 2023, added Dan Cullinan (coordinator of Poetry on the Fringe) as associate producer, and Kiefer Wesley Williams and Harry Scot as assistant producers. Finally, in 2025, we added Elaine Stewart to complete our team.

In line with our ethos, everyone is a volunteer and is dedicated to making the Liverpool Fringe the best in the world.
